About

My work for the past 10 years was focused on diverse aspects of culture, ethnography and ornaments from all over the world. In the past 15 years I have travelled across  Asia, Europe, Russia and Latin America.  At the moment I am working on a series of  paintings, dedicated to traditional female clothes and ornaments. I find myself continually returning to those aspects of ancient knowledge and symbolism, that are often hidden in textile and handicrafts.  In my artwork  I am leaving an open space for a dialogue between the work itself and the viewer.

My work ranges from illustrations and life drawing sketches, to solid paintings and ceramic objects, wall paintings, etc.  Often focusing on the creation of a series of work I prefer to use different media (such as acrylic, watercolors, ink, pencils and pastels). The work takes on various forms intended to involve the viewer as a co-author and a witness, creating new and unpredictable cycles of thoughts and associations.

Artist's Statement

"Who i am? Am i what my hands create? Am i what my thoughts are defining as Polina? Am i what others see as a person called Polina?..our roots, genetic memory, elements, energies and Light - these are some of important summands besides those our materialistic reality makes us to believe we are. Some of my art is focused on outer aspects, but i find it important not to forget the inner. World history, anthropology, textile varieties, handicraft , old pagan traditions, spiritual teachings..- those are some of my interests and main sources of creativity."
